Austin Shower!

Last Saturday my friend Hannah Mouton threw me a lovely shower in Austin!  Forgive the delay on the post, but the pictures were on my home computer and I find that most of the time I'm sitting on my work computer.

I didn't get a good picture WITH Hannah, but that's her, looking model-esque in the purple maxi-dress!

Anyway, the shower was adorable!  She themed everything in Drew's bedroom colors- navy blue and apple green.

Isn't that cake too cute?!  It was almond cake with strawberry butter creme and tasted like a wedding cake.  It was also HUGE.  I ended up taking some to work to share, but I cut it up first-- nothing like taking a boob cake to work!

She also made chocolate chip banana bread for favors (top right of the corner) and had lemon ricotta cookies (top left).  The adorable pics of the little boy with the blue bow on his butt was for the guests to write me a note for Rob to bring to the hospital for me to read.  I haven't read them yet, but I'm anxious to do so!!

And that sweet picture in the top middle- that was Hannah and her husband Ian's gift to us.  It is a little longhorn baby carrying a Bevo and a football helmet.  It's called "In Training."  I have no doubt my kiddo will re-create this look at some point!

And, yet again, Rob, Drew and I were blessed beyond our wildest dreams.  From a diaper bag to a bouncy seat, shopping cart cover, baby's first Christmas ornament, and a seemingly never-ending box of clothes.  All of the gifts are much appreciated!

Blessed.

This weekend Drew and I (and Rob!) were blessed time and time again by our friends and family.  This little man is going to come into the world very well-stocked!

My shower was hosted by my roommates from my sophomore year of college- the "317" ladies. Sara (left) lives in Houston and works for CenterPoint Energy.  Melanie (between me and Sara) lives in Boston and is a lawyer.  Liz (left) lives in DC and is getting her PhD is something I can't even explain.  Smart (and beautiful!) ladies!  I am so lucky that they wanted to do this and were willing to travel to Houston for me!  I think it helps that all their mommas live in Houston!

When we lived together we also had an unofficial 5th roommate, Priscilla.  She lived further of campus and spent a lot of time hanging out at our apartment, which we loved!  She and her husband live in Nebraska, so it was extra special that she came in, too.  She also has great shoes.

I was told that the black dress didn't accentuate the bump enough, so here- I really am pregnant.  Can you see it now?

It was a lovely shower full of blue hydrangeas, great food, petit fours with blue booties on top, and lots of friends and family.  And an embarrassingly huge pile of gifts.

If there was a theme in gifts, it certainly had to fall to "UT."  Vicki won the award for most UT stuff (as she should have).  She also swears that she got it out of her system for awhile.  Along with the Longhorn bag, he got bottles, pacis, overalls, jackets, toys, blankets and a stuffed toy (I'm probably missing something too).  It took awhile to unwrap.  Peggy and Randy Markowski also provided a tailgate bag full of things Drew will need for early morning tailgates with Rob (does that mean that I'm going to get a few hours of sleep on Saturday mornings?!)  I'm thinking he won't get to use most of that until his SECOND football season, because I doubt my husband is going to take a 3-4 week old out alone.  Just a hunch.

I wish I could list each and every gift he got here, but it would take hours and I would bore you tears.  But he got tons of lovely and THOUGHTFUL gifts, everything from funny to cute to necessary.  And Rob and I greatly appreciate all of it.

Saturday night the 5 of us (Melanie, Sara, Liz, Priscilla and I) went out to dinner and then to a wine bar to meet Sara's new boyfriend. It was a lovely time and really reminded me that Houston/Austin/Boston/D.C/South Bend really is too far away.  I LOVED catching up face-to-face with you girls. Thank you for a great weekend!
